Dedicated to
Helping You
Move Forward

For more than four decades, I’ve dedicated myself to serving those who have suffered through a serious injury or even experienced the death of a family member due to someone else’s carelessness or wrongdoing. I am dedicated to helping enable my clients to move forward and get back to their lives in a productive way.

When representing a client, my mission has always been to provide more one-on-one interaction than you’d normally expect from an attorney. These are difficult times, and I am here to support you with the best service possible, something that really can only be experienced when working with smaller local law firms such as ours. I make myself very available to you, negotiate aggressively with the insurance companies, and only charge a fee if we win.

If you or someone you know has suffered an injury, contact our office for a free, confidential conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does hiring a personal injury attorney help my lawsuit?
When negligence or a wrongful act leads to someone's injury, an attorney can help  recover damages for their losses. A skilled personal injury attorney can help you determine what damages you should claim. Learn more about how having a personal injury attorney is important for your claim.
What kind of cases do you most often handle?
My practice is 100% personal injury on behalf of the injured person. These include injury as well as death cases. Over the past 20 years I have represented people in more than 1,000 cases with the majority of those involving very serious injury to death.
Will anyone else be working on my case (i.e. paralegals, experts, law clerks)? If so, what is their experience?
I will handle all of the work on your case. I may have a paralegal help with some of the paperwork items, but when it comes to the required hands-on or court room work, I will be solely responsible for that.
Will I be able to speak directly with you about my case if I have questions or concerns?
Absolutely. I am always available via phone or e-mail.
How often is a case settled in court vs. out of court? Will you go to court if needed or refer me to another attorney?
Fortunately, most cases of this nature settle before trial. That does not mean that we do not “go to court,” as often times to get the best result we will prepare the case as if it is going to trial, which requires filing a lawsuit and going through the litigation process. The insurance companies know who the lawyers are that “settle early” and those that will work hard for their clients and push the insurance company harder then they push the lawyers. I have tried more than 35 cases over the past 20 years and the insurance companies know that we will fully prepare the case for trial if need be.
What does the lawyer mean when he or she says “no fee if no recovery?”
Quite simply, if we do not succeed in obtaining a monetary recovery for a client then that client will not have any fee to pay the lawyer. Our fee is contingent on winning for the client.
How do I know if my lawyer is ethical or respected in their field?
There are several lawyer ranking organizations that one can look to and see what the reputation of their lawyer is in the legal community. The most independent is Martindale Hubbell, from which Mr. Tierney holds a rating of “AV” which is the highest ranking an attorney can achieve based on input from lawyers and judges who he has worked with and against over the years. He has held this ranking since 2004 and it measures legal ability and ethical standards. Mr. Tierney has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for 2020. Mr. Tierney has also been selected as a Southern California Super Lawyer for Personal Injury from 2012 to the present.

  • Compassionate yet strong. Great attorney.

Mr. Tierney was incredibly empathetic with me & my family and yet he was so aggressive when it came to negotiating with the insurance company. I don't we could have gotten half as much if I had chosen to go with another attorney. Our family can't thank him enough for the feeling of justice he provided us.
